Olde Beaufort Farmers’ Market (OBFM) Kentucky Derby Hat Contest Contestant Rules and Entry Form

 

1. Contestants must complete the online entry form to secure a spot for judging.

2. There is a $5 entry fee that is due with entry form submittal.  Online entry cut off is Thursday, 02 May.  Drop-ins are welcome the day of the event. 

3. Hats must be embellished with something we would associate with the farmers’ market.  This may be anything related to a farmer (food or floral), artisan, or crafter.  Failure to include something associated with the farmers’ market will result in being disqualified. 

4. Participants should check-in at 10am, stroll through the market modeling their hats, then return for judging at 10:30am at the “Derby Hat Contest” tent. 

5. Hats should be based on creativity, overall visual appeal, wearability, and association w/ the farmers’ market.

6. There will be a 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place winners.  The 1st place winner receives 60% of the entry fees, the 2nd place winner receives the remaining 40%, and the 3rd place receives a ribbon.

7. Participants will be photographed and entry in the contest is your consent to have your photo taken and used in OBFM advertising.
