This past weekend was such a special milestone for Simple Southern Garden—our very first day at the Olde Beaufort Farmers Market! I truly didn’t know what to expect going in, but I left feeling so encouraged, grateful, and inspired.
One of my favorite parts of the day was getting to connect with so many wonderful people. I had the chance to chat with several master gardeners, which was both exciting and a little humbling. Not only did they share their knowledge and experiences, but they also supported my little business by purchasing plants. That meant so much to me.
Throughout the morning, I loved hearing about everyone’s gardens—what they’re growing, what challenges they’re facing, and what they’re dreaming of creating next. A common theme kept coming up: so many people described their gardens as their sanctuary. A place of peace, quiet, and restoration. That really stuck with me, because it’s exactly what gardening has been for me too.
And one thing I can confidently say—every single person I met loves flowers. My little catchphrase of the day became, “Hey, do you want to come see my flowers?” And without fail, every person said yes. That simple invitation led to so many sweet conversations, new connections, and shared excitement over plants.
This experience reminded me why I started Simple Southern Garden—to help others create spaces that bring them joy, beauty, and a sense of calm right at home. I’m already looking forward to bringing even more plants and ideas to the market to help you do just that.
I can’t wait to be back this week and continue growing, learning, and connecting with all of you.
