Libby’s Legacy: Nourishing Community Through Food, Learning, and Love

Updated: Jan 12

Libby Steadham was a longtime supporter, vendor, and friend of the Olde Beaufort Farmers’ Market. She believed deeply in the power of fresh, local food and the role it plays in building healthier lives and stronger communities. Her passion for teaching others how to cook, grow, and eat well continues to inspire the Market today.

In 2021, Libby authored Seasonal Cooking from the Garden, a cookbook filled with recipes, stories, and practical wisdom drawn from her own kitchen and garden. One of her final wishes was for the book to continue making a difference — with proceeds supporting education around healthy eating and nutrition. In her honor, the cookbook is available for purchase at the Market.

Libby’s Legacy also lives on through educational programming at the Market. Throughout the season, visitors can look forward to chef demonstrations and food-focused events that celebrate fresh seasonal ingredients, simple preparation, and the joy of sharing good food. These moments reflect Libby’s lifelong belief that cooking and eating well should be accessible, joyful, and rooted in community.
