We love our Volunteers!
Our Saturday morning markets, and all our other activities and events, require a group of happy, hard-working volunteers. They welcome shoppers into the market, sell market T-shirts and other merchandise, serve at our dinners, carry out the Kid’s Program activities, and do anything else that needs production effort!
If you love the market and are looking for a way to contribute to our community and make social connections, become an OBFM volunteer.

Our Sponsor Group:
The Friends of the OBFM
We have a group of local businesses and individuals who value what our market and other activities and events bring to the community. Through their donations they provide the working capital for our organization which helps us to best serve our citizens and guests to our area.
They believe in the mission and community involvement of the OBFM!
Thanks to their support, our Saturday morning market has become a hub of bustling commerce for local farmers, bakers, fishermen, artists, and craftspeople; a venue for non-profit organizations eager to share their resources, and a safe, friendly outdoor space for healthy social connections and interactions.

We have a Kid's Program!
Our market is family friendly. Our venue is safe and the perfect outdoor space for children of all ages to learn, create, and play.
Our team of volunteers has an activity ready each Saturday morning for our youngsters. Some are educational, teaching about the environment, foods, plants, animals and other interesting topics.
Some are art projects and some, such as scavenger hunts, encourage kids, and their parents to browse through the market vendor booths in
search of different things.
All the activities are fun!
Join us for a
delicious dinner
Twice a year we host a fine meal and dining experience for our community. These events include a delicious meal created by local chefs which highlights fresh ingredients from our farmers, fishermen, and bakers, complete with abundant appetizers, main course and sides, and desserts; live music, adult beverages, and a gorgeous view of Taylor’s Creek at sunset!
The dinners are held on the deck at the Harborside Park, across from the Maritime Museum on Front St. in downtown Beaufort. This year’s Farm to Table event will be held on May 22nd. and our Sea to Table Dinner is planned for October 2nd.
The proceeds from these dinners go toward our
Mike Dunn Scholarship program.
These dinners are highly anticipated events and sell out quickly. Mark your calendar with the dates and keep an eye on our website and social media to get your seats early.

Libby's Legacy
In honor of Libby Steadham, a long-time and much-loved vendor with the market, we have created a program that honors her legacy.
Libby was passionate about growing vegetables and creating seasonal dishes using them. Because of this, she created a cookbook called,
“Seasonal Cooking from the Garden” in
coastal North Carolina.
We will be selling this cookbook at the market and using the profits to teach and encourage folks to eat fresh, healthy food. These activities will include chef demos, recipe distributions, food sampling and other market efforts in memory of Libby.

The Mike Dunn Scholarship Program
Mike Dunn was a long-time market vendor who sold beautiful underwater photos of the flora and fauna he documented during dive trips around the world. He was also a long-time
member of the market’s Board of Directors.
In his honor the OBFM awards scholarships each year to deserving high school students or others who are seeking higher education to enhance their lives and prepare them to contribute to their communities. Learn more about this program, apply for a scholarship, and contribute donations to the fund:
